Joan Vernet Collection

The personal fonds of Joan Vernet i Batet (1909-1979), a clarinettist, writer and printer, was donated by Joan Vernet’s nephew, Josep Maria Guix, to the Josep Móra Municipal Periodicals Library of Granollers on 5 July 1979.

Joan Vernet worked at the Garrell printing house in Granollers and later as a representative of the insurance company Assistència Sanitària. As a writer, he won the P. Maspons literary prize of the Cultural Association of Granollers in 1951 (Festa Major! Del diari d’un jove granollerí. Granollers: Pub. de l’Associació Cultural, 1952) and published numerous narrative booklets on local historical topics with Gráficas Garrell in Granollers.

The GrJV fonds is conserved in 3 archival boxes and contains works by different composers working both in Spain and abroad. It includes an “authored manuscripts” and a “printed items” collection with a repertoire of composers and arrangers working in Catalonia between the late 19th and mid-20th centuries.

The “manuscripts” collection contains 27 works with an instrumental repertoire by Josep Badia, Josep Fornells, Pau Guanter, Pere Miquel Marquès, Jaume Nunó, Joan Pujadas and Francesc Vilaró, along with different arrangements by Joan Vilà Ayats. The "printed music" collection contains 48 sardanas written by J. Aulí, V. Bou, J. Casanoves, A. Català, J. Font, J. Garreta, A. Girau, S. Gratacós, G. Guasch, S. Juanola, J. Manén, E. Marimon, S. Mas, P. Mayoral, I. Miracle, F. Monné, E. Morera, A. Pérez-Moya, R. Rossell, J. M. Ruera, J. Saderra, S. Soler, J. M. Tarrides, J. M. Ventura, J. Via, R. Vidal and. J. Viladomat.
